Dedicated to the memory of Bo Gjersoe-McCarron

The Brightest RainBo

There are people on earth who live many years, and some who are here just a few.

Some have decades to see all the things they will see, some just months, to do what they’ll do.

We live and we love and our destinies blend, as our stories become intertwined.

It’s not how long we are here on this earth, but the memories and love left behind.

Bo – you left love by the gallon and memories galore, you took all the smooth with the rough.

You were sweet, you were funny, you made us all smile; you were strong, you were brave, you were tough.

Pushing your pram round the park every day is a memory Mummy will keep.

Daddy will think of the late-night cuddles, while Mummy caught up on her sleep.

There’s that time you caught Daddy off guard at the school, by suddenly filling your nappy.

There’s listening to Pharrell and clapping along, to show us all you were so ‘Happy’.

You also threw shapes to some house music greats, like ‘Put your hands up in the air.’

And nursery songs where we’d all sing along, in full voice, like we hadn’t a care.

You’d laugh along loudly with Axel or Mor Mor; Incy Wincy Spider, your favourite rhyme.

You’d spend afternoons with Kim and Sophia, who’d want Bo-cuddles all of the time.

Sticky toffee pudding, ice cream by the tub - rules relaxed for the littlest, young brother.

You had your first beer with your mad Uncle Matt, just hanging out with one another.

You went to the Gurneys for Christmas time fun; there’s the Spicy Singapore noodle event.

There were days out at Foxhills and walks in the sun - so many hours happily spent.

Rebecca Recycles and In the Night Garden, were avidly watched on the telly.

You Are My Sunshine sung loudly with Mummy, as she happily tickled your belly.

Your first word was Mumma, a beautiful sound and Dadda then followed soon after.

But the most wondrous sound that we’re longing to hear is the beautiful sound of your laughter.

We’ll cuddle our Bo Bo Bear, hold him so tight as we follow the beat of your heart.

But we’ll never get over how soon you were gone or the day that our world fell apart.

To get through these days, we will think of your smile – so captivating and warm.

A spectrum of light in bright rainbow colours, to carry us through this dark storm.

A smile so broad it reached into your soul, it charmed strangers who’d only just met you.

A smile like that stays in the fabric of time and why no-one could ever forget you.

When we think of you, our eyes will light up - light up because we’ve got a choice.

We promised we’d be right beside you, my dear and we know that you can hear our voice.

Although you were with us for such a short time, you filled 10 months up full of joy.

This world is much brighter for having you here - our beautiful, brave little boy.

We’ll kiss you good night now - we’ll tuck you in snug. We’ll sing you to sleep – off you go.

We love you and miss you – you’re here in our hearts. Good night, sleep tight, little Bo.
